BUTLER COUNTY – Beginning Aug. 1, Iowa school districts will have the option to allow eighth-grade students to participate in high school athletics beyond the baseball and softball opportunities already available under current practice. The change comes as part of legislation approved by the Iowa Legislature during the 2026 session.
