BUTLER COUTNY - Medical emergencies, traffic stops, storm-related flooding, and theft investigations were among the three-day stretch of calls keeping Butler County Sheriff's deputies busy.

BUTLER COUNTY - The Butler County Board of Supervisors approved several transfers of funds at their July 7 meeting. These transactions moved money from the general fund to two departments in order to offset expenses in the upcoming fiscal year. Both transfers were approved unanimously.

APLINGTON — The Aplington City Council approved several items during its July 8 meeting, including a building approval and updates on public works, emergency services, community organizations and future development projects.

SHELL ROCK – Heavy rainfall upstream has led to rising water levels along the Shell Rock River, forcing the Butler County Conservation Board to temporarily close several parks and campgrounds as a safety precaution.

According to Executive Director Matthew Wilken, river forecasts changed, with water levels climbing higher than initially expected. 

APLINGTON-PARKERSBURG – Aplington-Parkersburg High School agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor Jamie Pudenz has earned statewide recognition after being named the Iowa Association of Agricultural Educators’ Outstanding Early Career Teacher, an honor recognizing one of Iowa’s top agricultural educators in their fourth through seventh year of teaching.

CLARKSVILLE – The Clarksville City Council addressed a wide range of community issues during its July 7 regular meeting. Topics included infrastructure financing, nuisance properties, storage pods, electric bikes, rental inspections, and the possibility of a chicken ordinance. 

BUTLER COUNTY – Children involved in the child welfare system in Butler County will soon have more local voices standing beside them as the Iowa Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program works to establish its presence in the county.

BUTLER COUNTY - Deputies with the Butler County Sheriff's Office handled 35 calls for service between July 6 and the morning of July 7, responding to a wide variety of incidents across the county.

BUTLER COUNTY – Butler County students have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement during the 2026 spring semester and Winter/May Term at Wartburg College, Washburn University, and the University of Northern Iowa.

BUTLER COUNTY – The Butler County Sheriff’s Office responded to more than 800 calls for service and recorded 20 arrests during June, according to the department’s monthly arrest and press reports.
