PARKERSBURG - Parkersburg Lions Club members gathered for their annual summer potluck, combining fellowship with a service project designed to brighten the days of Parker Place residents.

ALLISON — Allison Little Lambs Child Care is once again inviting the community to help local students start the school year prepared through its annual Back-to-School Supply Drive.

ALLISON — Early mornings and daily practice paid off for Allison 4-H member Oakley Ruby, who claimed the championship in the breeding heifer show at the Central Iowa Showdown.

SHELL ROCK — Residents can expect several visible improvements around Shell Rock after action taken during the Aug. 4 City Council meeting, including completed repairs to the community's storm siren, finished renovations to the Boyd Building and plans for new sidewalk projects that could improve pedestrian access throughout town.

BUTLER COUNTY — A love of history, an interest in interviewing, and a growing list of adventures are helping one Butler County boy show that abilities can far outweigh disabilities.

PARKERSBURG — Waverly Health Center will expand its family practice services to Parkersburg later this year through a partnership with Brandy Reints, ARNP, allowing patients to continue receiving care from a familiar local provider while gaining access to additional resources of Waverly Health Center.

CLARKSVILLE— Reading Park came alive with the sounds of western swing and classic country Sunday evening as Tom Hofer and the Iowa Playboys entertained the city of Clarksville.

The performance featured a mix of traditional country, western swing, and old favorites.

PARKERSBURG — A playful fox photographed south of Aplington earned Trista Wolff the top honor in the 2026 Parkersburg Fun Days Photo Contest, marking her second consecutive overall win.

BUTLER COUNTY — As part of his 100 Town Hall Tour, State Auditor Rob Sand's visited Butler County on Wednesday, answering questions from the community in a town hall event. Recently, his proposal regarding kids and social media and online safety has become a topic of conversation and interest to voters. 

BRISTOW — The Bristow Fire Department says its recent fundraising efforts through Bristow Fun Days brought in approximately $8,000 in net revenue to directly support the department's new fire station fund. The event, which celebrated the city’s 150^th birthday, was full of food, community activities, and family fun.

ALLISON — The Allison Park Board is beginning to see progress towards a long-term effort to update the community's playgrounds, with its top priority being the addition of handicap-accessible play equipment.
