ALLISON – An idea sparked by a local chainsaw artist is helping drive meaningful improvements for the Butler County Fairgrounds.

Fair Board President Steve Dilger and Secretary Karen Dilger recently shared how a new bench plaque fundraiser is gaining momentum as the fair works to renovate its arena.

Aplington-Parkersburg High School named its scholarship award winners during its annual Senior Awards Night Tuesday.

Voters head to the polls June 2 to determine what candidates will face off in November’s mid-term election.

    Several key races are on the ballot this year, including both Iowa governor and U.S. Senate seats that are open after Gov. Kim Reynolds and Sen. Joni Ernst opted not to seek reelection.

CLARKSVILLE, Iowa – “Meet Me on Main” is becoming one of Clarksville’s favorite community traditions, bringing residents and out-of-towners together for an evening of shopping, food, and small business support. For the past two years, organizers Kim Jenison and Jessica Hyde have shone a spotlight on the heart of downtown Clarksville for this biannual event.

      ALLISON – The Butler County Board of Supervisors approved a contract for library services during its regular meeting May 5.

        CLARKSVILLE – The Clarksville School Board approved a contract for a new PK-12 principal during a special meeting April 28 at the superintendent’s office.

ALLISON – Allison’s Farmers Market will return for its second season beginning May 7, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to shop local each week.

      BELMOND – Ezra Almelien won the 1,600-meter run and ran a leg of the winning 4 x 800-meter relay, leading North Butler to second place at the Belmond-Klemme Relays last Tuesday.

CLARKSVILLE – The Clarksville Community School District Board of Education approved its 2026-27 school year budget during its regular meeting April 22.

PARKERSBURG – The Aplington-Parkersburg School Board approved its Fiscal 2027 budget during its regular Board meeting April 20.

The Butler County Fair will host its annual Fair Buddies Goat Show Saturday, June 27 at 1 p.m. at the Show Arena. 

The show is for individuals with special needs, who will participate with the help of a 4-H member. Participants will show goats provided by local 4-H members while having assistance during the show. Goats will be led around the show arena and each participant will be awarded a trophy. 

Under the Sea was the theme Saturday as North Butler hosted its annual prom. The grand march was held at the high school while the prom was held at the Greene Community Center. After Prom was back at the high school.

Clarksville High School hosted its annual prom Saturday night in Charles City. Prior to the event, couples were introduced to the public during a grand march at the high school gymnasium.

PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg City Council approved changes to both water and sewer rates during its regular meeting April 6.
