ALLISON – Allison’s Farmers Market will return for its second season beginning May 7, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to shop local each week.

      BELMOND – Ezra Almelien won the 1,600-meter run and ran a leg of the winning 4 x 800-meter relay, leading North Butler to second place at the Belmond-Klemme Relays last Tuesday.

CLARKSVILLE – The Clarksville Community School District Board of Education approved its 2026-27 school year budget during its regular meeting April 22.

PARKERSBURG – The Aplington-Parkersburg School Board approved its Fiscal 2027 budget during its regular Board meeting April 20.

The Butler County Fair will host its annual Fair Buddies Goat Show Saturday, June 27 at 1 p.m. at the Show Arena. 

The show is for individuals with special needs, who will participate with the help of a 4-H member. Participants will show goats provided by local 4-H members while having assistance during the show. Goats will be led around the show arena and each participant will be awarded a trophy. 

Under the Sea was the theme Saturday as North Butler hosted its annual prom. The grand march was held at the high school while the prom was held at the Greene Community Center. After Prom was back at the high school.

Clarksville High School hosted its annual prom Saturday night in Charles City. Prior to the event, couples were introduced to the public during a grand march at the high school gymnasium.

PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg City Council approved changes to both water and sewer rates during its regular meeting April 6.

ALLISON – The North Butler School Board approved its Fiscal 2027 budget during its regular meeting at the Allison attendance center April 13.

        DIKE – The Dike-New Hartford School Board approved its Fiscal Year 2027 budget during a budget adoption hearing last Wednesday (April 15) at the high school.

Financial Highlights

Aplington-Parkersburg High School hosted its annual Junior-Senior Prom Saturday.

The Parkersburg Lions Club presented several awards during its banquet last week. Among awardees were a pair of high school seniors who received Lions scholarships, Kate Humphrey receiving the Melvin Jones Award and both Marlyn Allspach and Glenn Johnson being recognized as 20-year Lions members. The sixth graders of Aplington-Parkersburg are getting ready to perform their play “Super Interns Save the Day!” by Lavinia Roberts.  We have two casts performing this script back to back for each performance night.  We have 22 students participating this year.  

GREENE – The North Butler Community School District will discontinue its three-year-old preschool program at the beginning of the 2026-27 academic year.

   The North Butler School Board approved the decision during its April meeting.
